Chapter 6
What I have learned is to study the Bible to show my self-approval unto God and not be ashamed. Divine authority means that we accept the Bible as the Final authority because it is inspired by God from Genesis to Revelation and there 2 types of inspiration;
– Verbal inspiration is every word in the original manuscripts was inspired by God.
– Plenary inspiration is a full inspiration of all scripture as opposed to partial inspiration.
There is no conflict between the Bible and History or science and if there’s any apparent conflict it is because I have failed to understand science or history or the current scientific knowledge is not accurate.
For me to study my Bible and have a better understanding I must study the verse in its context by asking myself the following Questions;
– Who is speaking or writing?
– What is being said?
– To whom is it Being said?
– Why was it said?
– When was it said?
I have also learned the different rules for interpretation which are as follows;
-Divine authority is by accepting the Bible as the final authority because it’s inspired by God.
-Literal interpretation means exactly what it says.
– Contextual consideration means studying the verses that precede and follow them.
– First Mention is seen when a word, phrase, object, or incident is mentioned in the Bible for the first time.
-Repetition is when something is repeated in scripture for emphasis and importance.
– revelation is the full truth of God’s word on any subject and must not be gathered from an isolated passage.
