Greetings to everyone.
Creative Bible study methods.
Parts one: The subject of study.
I will like to share what I have learn from chapter 1 and 2.
I first learn the main purpose of the Bible as in 2 Timothy 3:16-17. All scriptures is given by inspiration of God, and is profitable for doctrine, reproof, correction, for instruction in righteousness: that the man of God may be perfect unto all good works.
I learn that, The Bible has two major divisions. Which is the old and the new testament. I learn that, both testaments are the word of God and we must study both in order to understand God’s message. The term old and new testament are used to distinguish God’s agreement with man, before and after the death of Jesus. We should not disregard the old testament simply because it called old.
The unity of the Bible. I learn of two things when we talk of the unity of the Bible
– United by content. Which means that there are no contradictions. One author deos not contradict any of the others.
– United by theme. The new and the old testament both tell the story of Jesus. The old testament prepares us for happenings and the new testament tell’s us how it happens.
The diversity of the Bible… Which means that the Bible has variety. It record different ways God dealt with people and thier responses back to Him .
Division of the old testament.
– the book of the law
– the books of history
– peotry
– prophecy ( Minor and major)
Division of the new testament.
– the books of the gospel.
– history ( Acts)
– letters
– prophecy.
I also learned on successful Bible reading of the Bible.
I learn that, First step in understanding the Bible is to begin by reading it.
Four suggestions for successful reading.
– read dialy
– read prayerfully
– read selectively
– read systematically.
To read in an orderly manner in order to understand it content.
This is wonderful, Dilan. The Bible is the sole book that we ought never to get tired of reading. It is designed to invite us into a deeper relationship and experience with the Holy Spirit in seeking understanding of God’s mind and heart for creation. Keep learning and letting the Spirit guide you.
Blessings!
