Chapter 11: Book Study.
A book study is important because the chapters, paragraphs, verses, and word of a book must be interpreted in proper context.
I will like to share with us again on 3 steps to study a book of the Bible.
Step 1. Initial survey.
Read the entire book at one sitting to identify the theme of the book. Choose a title that summarizes the theme.
Determine the purpose for which the book was written, audience and the author.
Summarize the basic life and ministry principle in one sentence. Because it is the basic truth of the book which is applicable to your life and ministry.
In the first reading do not be concerned with details. Survey the book for general information like : the theme, author, purpose, to whom , geographical setting and basic life ministry principle.
Step 2 Book Study chart .
Read the book the second time and note the major division of the book.
Create titles for each chapter of the book. It should reflect the general context of the chapter.
Select the key verse of the book and it should best summarize the content of the book.
Record key word and phrase them on a chart.
Step 3. Book outline.
Read the book the third time and create an outline of the entire book.
