Greetings to you all in Jesus name. I will be sharing with us from chapter 6 of intercessory prayers, which is: using the model prayer to intercede. Matthew 6:9-13 and Luke 11: 2-4.
In this chapter, we see when the disciples come to Jesus, they said teach us to pray. Not teach us a prayer. And Jesus responded to their request by using a method commonly used by the Jewish rabbis. The teachers often listed topics of truth, then under each point provided a complete outline.
In this model prayer, Jesus used this same teaching pattern. He gave topics and instructed, after this manner, pray therefore. Which means pray along this lines. Our lesson make me to understand that, Jesus did not command his followers to repeat the prayer word for word, but rather pray after that manner.
I learn that what makes the lord’s prayer a model of intercession is because you pray for others as well as your self.
Also Jesus prayer here began with a plural possessive pronominal adjective our. Further in the prayer we see statements like give us, lead us and forgive us. That makes it a good model for intercession.
