    Greetings to everyone.
I will like to share with us today in session 8 of our discussion questions of spiritual gifts.
    Question.
Many believers think that if they don’t have the gift of evangelism, it’s not thier responsibility to do evangelism. Do you think that it’s unhelpful to evangelism as a spiritual gifts? Why?
Evangelism as a spiritual gift is helpful.
Though evangelism is a spiritual gift, it is also a command for all believers. Just like giving and serving. Not having the gift of evangelism doesn’t excuse a believer from his call to share Christ to all Nations. Evangelism is for everyone.
I said it is helpful because, in Ephesians 4:12 , we see that, the gift is for equipping the saints for work of ministry and for the edification of the body of Christ. And for this reason, those with the gift of evangelism are helpful in the sense that, they are often effective through teaching in training others to share thier faith to all Nations about Jesus Christ.
Those with the gift of evangelism in the church, equipe others for the work of ministry.

    • thanks so much Dilan. yet to get to session 8 but I do agree with you on this one. the great commission was not to some Christians who have the gift but for everyone who professes Christ. of course if you have some good news why would you hesitate to share it with everyone?? as Christians we should be excited to share with all.
in concluding your writeup you mention that those with the gift of evangelism help in equipping others for the works of ministry. I am a little disturbed by this. if you would ask me whose job it is to equip in church I’ll quickly mention the Pastor who’s the shepherd. Don’t know if I’m wrong but can you clarify me a little on that? though I’m yet to get to session 8

      • Great observation there on the last part. Though I think Dilan’s point is mainly that those who have the gift of Evangelism can teach others how to evangelize, rather than equipping the saints for works of Ministry as the Pastor and others of the five-fold (or four-fold) ministry would do.
However, your reservations are justified. That one has a gift does not mean he can automatically teach. This reaffirms the need for proper, formal training in order to function properly in your specific area of calling and giftedness. I think we should encourage every Christian to take sharing their faith/personal witnessing seriously!

      • Sorry for the mix-up.
My last point I took it from Ephesians 4:11-12 that says, he is the one who gave these gifts to the church; the apostles, the prophets, the evangelists, and the pastor’s and teachers. Vs 12 thier responsibility is to equip God’s people to do his work and build up the church, the body of Christ.
I had in mind that all this 5 gifts listed in this text is for equipping of the saints for works of ministry.

        • Yes, they all are as indicated in the text. But not everyone with the gift of Evangelism is in the 5 fold. Just like not everyone who has the gift of shepherding should be a Church Pastor. But your reference to the function of the 5 fold is correct.

    • Great write-up Dilan. The work of Evangelism is for everyone. Believers are called upon to share their faith with others whether or not they have the specific spiritual gift of Evangelism. We share with our lifestyle and verbally as well. We may only have a difference in the scope and extent of our evangelistic manifestation, but the call is to all believers to share their faith and to persuade the world to turn to Christ in repentance and faith for salvation.
      God bless you!
