I will like to share with us what I have learned in chapter 10 on the topic Devotional Bible Study where the Key verse is “Mine eyes prevent the night watches, that I might meditate in thy word” Psalm 119:148. The Devotional Method of Bible study increases dedication and consecration to God which leads to worship and a deeper personal relationship with the Lord Jesus Christ. This does not only includes the study of God’s Word but also the application of it’s truths. I learned that I have to hear the word of God and apply it (James 1:22). The Following are the steps in Devotional Bible study and the explanations.
1). Record Passage Information; This is the first step were it records the name of the book in which the passage am studying is found.
2). Identify The subject ; This step forcus on reading the portion of scripture which I selected in step 1 and select a title that summarizes the subject.
3). Identify the key Verse; This step provides the best summary of the scripture portion am studying by writing the verse and reference on my chart.
4). Summarize ; This step forcuses on summarizing what the portion of scriptures teaches.
5). Meditate; Here I read, study and meditate on God’s word by thinking or dwelling on .
6). Make Application; This is the last step in Devotional Bible study and it’s more of applying what I have learned during meditation by applying in my life and ministrying the truths I have learned. Thanks for reading what I have learned.
