Biblical Foundations – Foundations part 1a
Kingdom covenant and Cabin of the old Testament

Lesson 1: Why the old Testament
Kingdom covenants were designed to accomplish God’s grand goal for history to glorify himself by turning all of creation unto his kingdom. Old testament authors drew up their beliefs in God’s kingdom and covenants as they addressed specific situations in the books of the  old Testament canon. As we study the old testament, we notice that there’s distance between the epoch in which it was written and our world because of it’s relevance, also because followers of Christ need to study it and finally because we need to study it to make responsible applications of the old Testament  to our lives
Distance is also created because of the way the scriptures were gotten:-way it was written- by organic inspiration that says that  under the specific infallible supervision of the Holy Spirit, human authors  themselves determined  what to write. God employed individual personalities, experiences and purposes of the human writers so that we may also rightly speak of scriptures as words of holy men . This organic inspiration  was subdivided into two types- mechanical ( God dictates) and romantic ( God suggests). The old testament scriptures were to fulfill its purpose by divine accomodations which states that an infinite God speaks to us through finite terms so we can easily understand.
We can talk if theological , cultural and personal distance but these scriptures were made relevant by the evidences of Jesus and his disciples teachings. Jesus never contrasted the scriptures, rather here asserted them, disagreeing with wrong interpretations being given by the pharasies. Even apostle Paul did same. Our task as present day Christians is to interpret the old testament correctly by paying adequate attention to to the ancient world in which it was written. We must note that these ancient scriptures have developed over time, and we need to creat effective connectivity between the content of the book and it’s reader.Note that God’s eternal plan, his covenant promises, the ancient world, have really never changed.we still have the same God, his image still remains the same, and the old testament has progressed step by step from Adam- Noah- Abraham – Moses- David- Christ.

Happy new year to everyone. Sorry for my long absence. This is a very difficult period for me in the office but I’m back in class. Hope to have more fellowship with you all.
