Chapter 8: Questionable practices
These are practices that are not specifically mentioned in the scriptures as being either wrong or right for a believer.
When confronted with these practices ask your self this question:
* does it glory God?
* What is your motivation?
* Is it necessary
* Will it promote your spiritual growth?
* Is it an enslaving habit?
* Is it a compromise?
* Will it lead to temptation?
* Does it give the appearance of evil?
* Does it violate your conscience?
* How will it affect others?
If believers don’t agree on a particular practice you must:
– Distinguish between matters of Command( God’s recommendations) and freedom of choice.
– Cultivate your own convictions
– Allow others freedom to determine their own conviction.
– limit liberty by love.
– Resolve all offenses.
When a brother offences you,
a) go to him privately and if he refuses to make peace,
b) take two people along and if the peace making process fails ( the two people should be impartial and should be either elders or leaders in the church.
C) bring him infront of the whole church.
