Chapter 17: The battle over the walls.
We studied a lesson on parrallels and I wish to say that we are using the same method to study this chapter. Just as Nehemiah rebuilt the walls of Jerusalem, we can use the same method in the spiritual level to rebuild our spiritual wallsto prosper our spiritual lives. But what first are our spiritual walls?
– the work of the cross in our lives and our spiritual foundation.
– our Christian witness,
– changing the old nature to the new
– going through suffering and trials
– dealing with the the works of the flesh
– submitting to the works of the holy spirit
– submitting to the word of God
– confront and fighting the spiritual warfare
– having self examination and facing the reality of facing judgement on the last day.
Note that satan strives to destroy this in your life, thereby exposing you to his destruction through sin.
Satan attacks your walls eternally and internally.
By externally we mean through direct criticisms, mockery and scorn, false accusations, diversion, popular influence, compromise, threats and fear, fighting and hindering, conspiracy.
Internally, we talk of discouragement, dissension, weak behaviours etc
You can overcome the battles of the walls by:
* Examine the walls through self examination, confessing your sins and seeking for forgiveness, arising and building the walls, avoid being distracted by popular opinion, identify your enemy and his strategies, develop spiritual counter strategies by developing an alert spirit, face the enemy and conquer him, protect your walls at vulnerable times, remain focus as you build your walls, set a watch over your life so that you won’t be taken unaware.
