greetings everyone. would just want to share with us on session 6
question.
Read 1 Corinthians 12-14 and share your positions on tongues. Do you agree with the conclusions of Steve Lake? Why or why not?
based on what is written in the scriptures by Apostle Paul precisely in 1st Corinthians 12:9,28 all through to chapter 13 and 14, I believe that there exists a gift of speaking in tongues. But just as much as the gift of tongues exists, if there would be no interpreter then it would only be for edification of the one speaking and not the entire congregation because they can’t understand what he’s saying. spiritual gifts were given to us for the common good of all believers and if we would speak in tongues with no interpreter in public worship, we’d better be silent. I’ve worshipped in a congregation where every pastor present took up the mic and began to lead prayer in tongues and I just stood there confused not understanding what prayer point they were leading us to pray. in the end I just stood confused till the whole thing ended. that exactly is the side effects of tongues with no interpreter. I strongly agree with Dr Steve Lake’s conclusions because they are sound and biblical. He concludes exactly as it is the Bible so I agree with him. we both have the same position as per tongues is concerned.
Great response Tracy!
I totally agree with your conclusions on the gift of tongues and its use. To be accompanied by an interpretation in public worship, otherwise used secretly in private prayer as a means of personal edification.
Thank you so much Dr colegue.
I do believe as well that there is a gift of speaking in tongues. It is beneficial for personal worship and for public in case there’s an interpreter. Your points are very clear. Spiritual gifts are given for the benefit of others . If we speak in tougues in public meetings without interpreter, it is totally nonsense. We should better be silent. And use it for personal edification.. I don’t have much experience about tougues but I believe God will keep on giving is understanding in Jesus name. Amen
