Course Description:
The purpose of this course is to clearly present to the student a biblical perspective of the Holy Spirit, viewing His ministry within the church and the life of the believer. The study covers Old and New Testament passages revealing the Trinity and declaring the nature of the triune Godhead. Pastor Chuck Smith brings it to a personal level for the student by presenting the practical application of God’s gift of the Spirit to every believer as promised in the Scriptures. It is our hope that through this course the student will gain a better understanding of the Person and the work of the Holy Spirit, thus drawing him into a more intimate and fruitful relationship. The following are some of the subjects that will be covered:
- The Holy Spirit in the beginning from Genesis
- The Holy Spirit’s personal characteristics—He is not an “essence”
- The Holy Spirit’s conviction in the heart of man
- The Holy Spirit in regeneration and baptism
- The Holy Spirit indwelling the life of the believer
- Introduction to the spiritual gifts
- Detailed discussion of the spiritual gifts
The Person and Gifts of the Holy Spirit is a thirty-one part course of study taught by Pastor Chuck Smith. These classes examine the presence and influence of the Holy Spirit throughout the Scriptures. The student will take an in-depth look at the attributes and the deity of the Third Person of the Trinity. The course provides detailed discussion of all spiritual gifts mentioned in the New Testament. Smith probes the Word of God for answers to what are often confusing thoughts regarding the ministry of the gifts of the Spirit in the first-century church, as well as in the church today. These teachings reveal tremendous spiritual insights through Smith’s personal study of the Word, testimony, and experiences, which span his fifty years of pastoring. It is our hope that every student will benefit from this comprehensive course which exalts the Holy Spirit’s power in the life of the believer.
